The mission of the
International Journal of Educational Reform
(
IJER
) is to keep readers up-to-date with worldwide developments in education reform by providing scholarly information and practical analysis from recognized international authorities. As the only peer-reviewed scholarly publication that combines authors’ voices without regard for the political affiliations perspectives, or research methodologies,
IJER
provides readers with a balanced view of all sides of the political and educational mainstream. To this end,
IJER
includes, but is not limited to, inquiry based and opinion pieces on developments in such areas as policy, administration, curriculum, instruction, law, and research.
IJER
should thus be of interest to professional educators with decision-making roles and policymakers at all levels turn since it provides a broad-based conversation between and among policymakers, practitioners, and academicians about reform goals, objectives, and methods for success throughout the world.
Readers can call on
IJER
to learn from an international group of reform implementers by discovering what they can do that has actually worked.
IJER
can also help readers to understand the pitfalls of current reforms in order to avoid making similar mistakes. Finally, it is the mission of
IJER
to help readers to learn about key issues in school reform from movers and shakers who help to study and shape the power base directing educational reform in the U.S. and the world.

Manuscript submission guidelines:
Manuscripts should be sent to Charles J. Russo, Editor, International Journal of School Reform, and Panzer Chair in Education in the Department of Educational Leadership, 324 Chaminade Hall, Department of Educational Leadership, University of Dayton, Dayton, OH 45469-0534, (an electronic copy must be provided). Manuscripts may be submitted electronically to charles.russo@notes.udayton.edu. Only submit one manuscript at a time for consideration; multiple submissions (of different articles) will not be accepted. Grammar, usage, and mechanics must conform to American Standard English customs. Articles are subject to two to three blind reviews. Comments and review rating forms are shared with the author(s). Average review time is three to four weeks.
Manuscripts should adhere to the following criteria:
Keywords
- Please provide 3-4 keywords
Typing
- Double space with 1” margins and 12-point Times New Roman type
Style
- Use specifications set forth in the
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5
th
ed.)
Title Page
- Include the following information:
Full title of the manuscript
Name and affiliation of each author
Address, country, zip or postal code, e-mail address, telephone number, and fax numbers of all authors
Date of submission
Abstract Page
- Type on a separate page and do not exceed 100 words
Author Biography
- Submit a short paragraph at the end of the article relating your occupation, education, and/or interests
Pagination
- Insert page numbers as follows:
Number all page except the title page
Place page number (Arabic numerals) in the header (right justified)
Include a short running title (no more than 50 characters) on each numbered page in the header prior to the page number
Tables
- Prepare table in the following manner:
Type tables on separate pages
Number them consecutively (Arabic numerals)
Each table must have a title
Indicate the approximate insertion point of each table in the manuscript by using parenthetical statements in the text, e.g. [insert Table 1 here]
Tables must be sent in a separate file
Figures
- Prepare figures in the following manner:
Material must be camera ready, in black and white only (no grayscale). No photos will be accepted
Reference, but do not insert, in the text
Summit each figure on a separate page
Number consecutively and provide titles
Indicate the approximate insertion point in the manuscript by using parenthetical statements, e.g., [insert Figure 1 here]; expect a 50% reduction in the size
Figures must be sent in a separate file
