Human Resources Assistant

Rowman & Littlefield is seeking a full-time
Human Resources Assistant who is passionate about providing exemplary service
and support to our customer base. In this position, you will have the
opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in many aspects of Human Resource
Management. To qualify, you must be organized, communicative, able to maintain
a high-level of confidentiality and a have a desire to learn. You will facilitate
the human resource process by providing administrative support to our HR team
in the following functional areas:
Employment, Records Administration and Risk
Management
- Organize,
process, document and maintain employee documentation and paperwork; maintain
departmental record organization and accuracy within the Human Resource
Information System (HRIS), in the digital filing system and within our physical
HR filing system; performing clerical functions to include copying, scanning
and faxing documents.
- Data
entry and maintenance of employee time & attendance.
- Post
job openings across relevant employment channels.
- Assist
in diversity and inclusion outreach activities.
- Schedule
or administer pre-employment screenings and/or testing, verifies prior
employment and verifies citizenship through E-Verify.
- Schedules
meetings and interviews as requested.
- Assistance
with the preparation and execution of employee engagement activities and
events.
- Assist in monthly research, evaluation, and
documentation of compliance updates on a federal, state, and local level to
ensure the integrity of our practices and policies.
While these are the main areas of
responsibility, other admin support tasks will be assigned as the role develops.
These additional tasks will be concentrated in the areas of Time &
Attendance and Payroll.
In addition to the above, candidates will have:
- 1-2
years’ experience performing administrative duties.
- High
School Diploma/GED required, Associate Degree preferred.
- Ability
to maintain high-level of confidentiality and attention to detail in all
practices.
- Exemplary
verbal and written communication skills - responds well to direction and asks
questions to improve performance.
- Knowledge
of using online/paperless systems for data organization.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office 365; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; proficiency in Adobe
Software and experience with ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.
