ASSOCIATE DIGITAL PUBLISHING REPRESENTATIVE (L-25-18)
Rowman & Littlefield seeks an enthusiastic, fast-learning candidate for our mid-level Associate Digital Publishing Representative position. This representative will report to the assistant manager of electronic publishing in their role as account manager for distribution of digital files on behalf of RLPG’s client publishers. They will also interface with e-book vendors such as Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, and Google to trouble-shoot and problem-solve when e-books fail to appear for sale or function properly. This position is located at the company’s Lanham, Maryland headquarters.
Education and support of assigned NBN client publishers on the eBook distribution process
File verification, distribution, and general troubleshooting for files distributed to vendors, including retailers and conversion partners
Monitor title catalog of assigned publishers for problems at digital vendors, both through direct catalog management or through liaising with vendor contacts, as needed
Work with RLPG and NBN team on technical issues beyond the scope of client services regarding ePub developments, devices, and file processing at vendors
Work with clients to ensure file availability and metadata delivery for promotions and prepub titles where applicable
Work with outside vendors to create e-book files for clients and/or RLPG backlist and special-case frontlist titles
Light e-book file manipulation and editing
Miscellaneous administrative work, including processing invoices, monthly reporting, and audits of live titles
Bachelor’s degree in English, library/information science, or a related field preferred.
1-2 years experience in publishing or digital asset management preferred.
Must be able to learn quickly, juggle multiple vendors, priorities, and deadlines, as well as demonstrate excellent time-management skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and human relation skills; work well on a team.
Command of Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
Knowledge of metadata, ONIX, and databases a plus.
Knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, epub editing software, and/or InDesign a plus.
