Assistant Editor, Acquisitions (L-20-18) | Rowman & Littlefield

Rowman & Littlefield is seeking an entry-level Assistant Editor for its Lexington Books imprint. The Assistant Editor will work closely with more senior Acquisitions Editors to acquire scholarly monographs and prepare them to go into production. Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • tracking proposal submissions
  • correspondence with authors
  • drafting contract packages
  • securing peer review and endorsements
  • updating information in our project database
  • reviewing manuscripts for permissions and formatting issues
  • preparing manuscripts for production
  • research
  • occasional conference attendance
This position is located in Lanham, Maryland.

  • B.A. in the social sciences or humanities (advanced degree a plus but not required)
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (esp. Word and Excel)
