Editorial Assistant, Production (L-19-18) | Rowman & Littlefield
Rowman & Littlefield is seeking an entry-level Editorial Assistant for its production department in Lanham, Maryland. The Editorial Assistant will support more senior editors with production-related functions including but not limited to:
  • Creating book records
  • Filing for Library of Congress CIP information
  • Processing copyright applications
  • Sending introductory letters to authors
  • Hiring freelancers
  • Checking redline copyediting
  • Checking proofs
  • Making masters
  • Checking indexes
  • Proofing cover mechanicals
  • Submitting cover requests
  • Routing/proofing cover proofs
  • Prepressing projects

In addition, the editorial assistant will take on some production-related administrative functions, such as print list composition, pub report updates, updating freelancer database, and other administrative responsibilities to be determined.

  • BA or BS, preferably in English or journalism (minor or area of concentration in history, religion, philosophy, political science, or any other discipline in which RLPG publishes)
  • Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style (familiarity with APA and other style guides a bonus)
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access) and Windows
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
