Rowman & Littlefield is looking for a publicity assistant to provide administrative support to the organization’s academic marketing division. This entry-level position will provide the selected candidate with much professional insight into the intricacies of academic title publicity, as well as offers significant growth opportunity. This position reports to the company’s Lanham, Maryland headquarters (near Washington, D.C.).


  • Send review copies to reviewer media for the academic monograph titles.
  • Prepare and submit award submittals for assigned titles.
  • Prepare and circulate internal “Pub Flash” emails
  • Write and send press releases
  • Audit reviews published within Choice, Booklist, Library Journal, and Publisher’s Weekly on a quarterly basis
  • Coordinate award submissions
  • Assist with arrangements for author appearances
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably within the subjects of marketing and/or communications
  • 1+ years of related experience. Related academic pursuits/study may be substituted for work experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
