EDITORIAL ASSISTANT, ACQUISITIONS (L-04-19)
Rowman & Littlefield is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support two editors: (1) our Executive Editor for library science, archival science, and museum studies and (2) our Acquisitions Editor for sports.
Duties include tracking proposal and manuscript submissions, preparing materials for the editorial board, managing databases, conducting market research, corresponding with authors, acting as a liaison between authors and other departments as needed, securing peer reviews and endorsements, and preparing manuscripts for transmittal to the production department.
The position is based in our New York City office.
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or humanities. Previous publishing experience preferred. This fast-paced position requires strong organizational, writing, editing, and communication skills; attention to detail; familiarity with standard office software applications; and multitasking capability in a busy office environment. As the position involves extensive work with our proprietary content management system, good technical abilities are essential.
