Marvin A. Henry is professor of education and chairperson emeritus of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology at Indiana State University. He is former president and distinguished member of the Association of Teacher Educators. Ann Weber is an instructional assistant professor at Illinois State University. She has been a teacher educator for twenty-five years and has worked with hundreds of cooperating teachers during clinical and student teaching experiences. She has been an innovator in developing and teaching an online course in the supervision of student teachers.

Supervising Student Teachers is an excellent resource for preparing supervisors of student teachers — whether it is the classroom supervising teacher or the collegiate supervisor. I am very pleased to learn about the seventh edition of Supervising Student Teachers. I have happily used this book in its several editions for years. Not only does Supervising Student Teachers provide a very practical approach to supervising student teachers, it is also extremely comprehensive in addressing the challenges facing today's student teachers, their cooperating teachers, and their university supervisors. One of my favorite illustrations is the chart showing student teachers' emotional stages. The thing that I thought was awesome about this book was that when the cooperating teachers and I were having our conferences about the student teachers and their lessons, the cooperating teachers would often reply, 'I just read about this in my textbook.' I loved the professional dialogue it created between us. We even used some of the suggested ideas and charts from the book to share common ideas with the student teachers. This makes a great collaborative tool between cooperating teacher and university supervisor! While taking an online university course for supervising teachers, I had the privilege of utilizing the text Supervising Student Teachers. The title is a fitting one, as the text is professional yet practical and covers every imaginable circumstance from both the supervising and student teachers' roles. The case studies were especially beneficial as they created an opportunity to see the teaching profession from all viewpoints, making them relevant and applicable. The perspective that a joint effort from both the student and supervising teacher, in order to experience growth and development, is imperative and was present throughout the readings. The end goal is effective teaching and learning for all. This text is a key component to the success and accountability of both the student and supervising teacher. On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest, I rate Supervising Student Teachers an eleven, as it is a practical and outstanding reference for beginning to veteran teachers.
