Rebecca Janowitz has worked in politics and community affairs in Hyde Park for more than twenty years. A lawyer by trade, she has applied her skills with Arne Duncan at the Chicago Public Schools, in the Fourth Ward office of Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, on the board of the South East Chicago Commission, and most recently at the Cook County Jail. She is the daughter of the late distinguished University of Chicago sociologist Morris Janowitz, and lives in Hyde Park.
Janowitz decides to frame her narrative of a neighborhood she argues is exceptional and unique around Barack Obama, giving her history an arc and relevancy that makes her accessible to Obama fans at large.
