This book explains, summarizes, and interprets the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards’ new Maintenance of Certificate (MOC) process. The MOC process replaces the former renewal process for National Board-Certified Teachers who want to maintain their certification beyond its original expiration date. MOC explores the teacher’s professional growth since the time of original certification or one’s last renewal. The book covers the scope of the process from beginning to end. Candidates will learn about the two Components they’ll complete, developing their Professional Growth Experiences (PGE), connecting their video to a PGE, writing in the National Board style, and how to most efficiently use their instructions. The book explains and interprets the prompts candidates respond to show they have remained an accomplished teacher.

About the Author
Bobbie Faulkner is the National Boards goddess. I began my journey to National Board certification in 2014 when the new version rolled out. Her books led to my NBCT status as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2017. I am tackling Maintenance of Certificate in 2020, during a global pandemic, while teaching Kindergarten remotely. I would be apprehensive about it if I didn’t have access to the wisdom, insight, and guidance she shares in this book. I can’t recommend this book highly enough! Bobbie, thank you for the unending and valuable support you provide to so many candidates.
So many teachers have used Bobbie Faulkner's What Works! books to guide them on their path to National Board certification! These NBCT teachers will be thrilled to find What Works! Maintenance of Certification is now available to support them again! So many specific suggestions, ideas and explanations that will lead to a deep understanding of the tasks. I encourage MOC candidates and Candidate Support Providers to use this resource to "smooth" out the journey!
The 3 Cs deciphered! Bobbie McKee Faulkner’s guide for teachers embarking on the Maintenance of Certificate (MOC) journey is a model of clear, consistent, and convincing writing.
