...[a] highly original book...
— Sports Collectors Digest
Pietrusza has provided us with useful documentation of a relatively underemphasized aspect of baseball's history.

Wow, talk about exhaustive research...[a] definitive work on the history of night baseball. What an excellent work Lights On! is. After a brief history on the use of outdoor artificial illumination, the author shifts into high gear on the subject of baseball under lights...it all makes for interesting reading as many of the original naysayers to lights did complete flip-flops in their thinking...a ton of related footnotes and anecdotes makes the Lights On! story very pleasurable reading. It's a super addition to the world of baseball literature...4 stars ("You Just Can't Put It Down")
