Not only does she define mindfulness in simple and accessible language, but she devotes an entire section to discussing its relevance and providing exercises for its practice. Professionals of all disciplines who work with domestic violence victims will no doubt appreciate this thoughtful compilation of stories and practices to enhance and refresh their work.

The author provides a sound theoretical overview of the impact of domestic violence on individuals and provides the clinician with sample stories that, through use of metaphor, seek to normalize challenges that emerge within the change process, provoke dialogue, and highlight themes that are relevant to this population.
