Violence against women is recognized as a public health problem; however, this area of research has produced results that are difficult to integrate either conceptually or empirically.Forsaken Females: The Global Brutalization of Women certainly makes a worthwhile contribution to the current understanding of the subject. [The book] presents the topic in a very powerful way, while maintaining rigorous academic standards....

This is the most comprehensive work on the topic I have seen. The book makes a profound contribution to not only understanding the topic, but to comprehending the breadth and and depth of the issues... [Forsaken Females] has potential for serving asa core reference for understanding the degree to which the world experiences violence perpetrated against women... and should be required reading for any student intending to research or work internationally - regardless if that work is focused on women's issues.
